About The Author

Tom Durood

Tom Durwood is a teacher, writer and editor with an interest in history. Tom most recently taught English Composition and Empire and Literature at Valley Forge Military College, where he won the Teacher of the Year Award five times.

Tom has taught Public Speaking and Basic Communications as guest lecturer for the Naval Special Warfare Development Group at the Dam’s Neck Annex of the Naval War College.

A very complete book, with a fascinating story and plot, and with very detailed illustrations that will make you live the story as if it were your own. The scene is located in Egypt, with a story that revolves around Salima, the daughter of a young boatman, and her involvement in the construction and evolution of the Suez Canal, where we will be able to learn through this wonderful adventure incredible aspects such as the history of Egypt, political and economic factors, as well as an excellent adventure that will make you enjoy. Personally, I find it a very interesting and entertaining book, which has made me enjoy and that, without a doubt, I totally recommend to any reader.

This book by Tom Durwood is a fascinating adventure book that is sure to delight both young and adult readers. Inside, you'll meet Salima, a girl who desires to embark on a journey to see the world. However, she must break away from her current society so she can fully gain the freedom to follow her dreams. Eventually, Salima joins a group that works to set out on a worldwide adventure. While enchanted with their new surroundings, they soon learn that everything isn’t as pleasing as it might have seemed. They must protect each other from enemies, both human and natural. Besides Durwood’s engrossing writing style, this book is an engrossing read thanks to the detailed illustrations included throughout the story. These will help you better visualize the different settings and current situations presented. If you’re on the search for a captivating book, definitely consider this one. It’s well-written, features beautiful settings, and is filled with intriguing characters.

This is a fun story with great illustration and adventure. The vivid illustrations of the story only add to the experience as you are captivated and pulled into the journey. Storytelling with the visual aids provided in this adventure make the read so much more enjoyable. The historical nature of this story includes Egypt as well as the Suez Canal and the construction of this monumental task. I found the story to be a great read with an accompanying visual aid that made it an excellent presentation. A good read for the young adults.
